
Royal Match Obstacles
Obstacles are elements that add challenge to the game. When you eliminate them, you gain a more satisfying gaming experience. These obstacles can also surprise the user both visually and mechanically. When a user can be surprised by these obstacles, they will be curious about the next obstacle and eager to take on a new challenge. This, in turn, ensures retention for the game.
Royal Match obstacles achieve this. They not only add a moderate level of difficulty to the game but also reward the user with ASMR-like sounds and visuals when these obstacles are eliminated.
As important as obstacle design is its presentation and timing within the level, as well as its frequency of use. In this article, I will focus on this aspect. In the diagram below, I have illustrated the frequency of introducing new obstacles in relation to level progression (Figure 1).

In summary:
Levels 0-10 introduce new obstacle every 5 levels.
Levels 10-100 introduce new obstacle every 10 levels.
Levels 100-200 introduce new obstacle every 20 levels.
Levels 200-300 introduce new obstacle every 30 levels.
Levels 300-1000 introduce new obstacle every 50 levels.
Levels 1000-2000 introduce new obstacle every 100 levels.
Levels 2000-6201 introduce new obstacle every 200 levels.
